Meet the Team: Mykola Slobodian, CEO
June 30th, 2015

We're starting a new blog post series on our blog: meet the team! Get to know Grossum employees better :) And who's better to start with than our very own CEO, Mykola Slobodian, who had a birthday recently on June 28 (Happy Birthday, dear boss!) :)
Having worked in web development for a long time, Mykola founded Grossum in December 2013. He holds a Ph. D. in Physical and Mathematical Sciences and likes to find solutions to IT challenges. Now more about him.
What Did You Want To Be When You Grew Up?
I wanted to be an astronaut, just like all the other kids of that time.
When I was six, I got my first computer and I started programming. I really liked math and physics classes at school, so exact sciences were my kind of thing. Granted, I cannot say that I really grew up and became an official adult. Inside, while I may not be a kid, I am definitely a young maximalist teen, who greedily explores this world.
I am always excited about all things new, especially connected with IT or relationships with people. Every one of us has a spark inside that has a potential to become a bright flame if only the circumstances are right. I consider it my mission is to find those circumstances or create them.
If you started your IT career all over again, what would you do differently?
Our most valued resource is time. I wouldn't choose another path or way, but I would try to take each step faster, more efficiently, more confidently. And, of course, I'd spend more time with my family.
What is the most enjoyable thing in being a CEO of an IT company?
It is people that surround you, who trusted you with their time and skills to make one big common dream become true. Also, it is great to be learning from people whom you yourself have taught at the beginning of their own journeys.
What do you think is the future of IT in Ukraine?
I think more and more companies will be focusing on product development since classic outsourcing is losing its demand. Taking into account the situation in the country, new rules, and evolution of the market, the spheres that we expect will be expanding are e-government, smartcity, and e-commerce. And we are planning to get right into it and be active players.
What's your favorite animal?
Cat!
What is a must for a good mood in the morning?
- Get enough sleep
- Have dear people near
- Completed goals of yesterday and new set goals for today
- Few pages of good classical novel before bed
Talking about books, what book would you recommend to read?
- Jim Collins "Good to Great"
- Stephen Covey "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
- Malcolm Gladwell "Outliers"
Stay in touch and come back for more stories and interviews about Grossum team :)
