PHP Frameworks Day 2015: Symfony2 & REST API
October 29th, 2015

Two weeks ago, on October 17, PHP Frameworks Day 2015 took place and we’re proud of Alexey Verkeenko, one of our developers, who was one of the speakers at the conference.
His speech focused on Symfony2 and REST API.
- Symfony2 is one of the most popular PHP frameworks and the community is gaining more and more members.
- REST (Representational State Transfer) is the software architectural style of the World Wide Web.
He started the presentation by talking a little about the background history of REST and how it came to be. Back in 2000, Roy Fielding presented this technology in his doctoral dissertation and it became popular after that.
However, popularity and easiness of use have little in common and using REST API in Symfony has its share of challenges to be solved. One of those issues is the lack of mutual agreement and standards. Another one is the complex process of looking for bugs and errors during the development.
Below you can see the full presentation, where Alexey also presents alternative solutions as well as ways to implement this in Symfony2.
